Masters of the Air: The Winged Wildlife of Kenya
"The skies and waters of Kenya are the stage for a diversity of forms and colors that often go unnoticed—a winged world where grace meets raw power. From the endless plains of the Maasai Mara to the shimmering marshes of Amboseli, this gallery celebrates the masters of the air and the sentinels of the savanna.
The spectacle reaches its peak with the flamingos: whether standing alone like spots of light on calm waters or gathered by the thousands in a vast, shifting pink ribbon, they offer scenes of absolute poetry. In stark contrast to this delicacy, the raptors of the Mara and Amboseli assert their sovereignty. From Martial Eagles and Bateleurs to countless species of vultures, these aerial predators fascinate through their diversity and their crucial role in the ecosystem’s balance.
To photograph birds is to capture elegance in motion: from the majestic stride of a Secretarybird to the iridescent shimmer of a Lilac-breasted Roller. Each shot is a quest for precision, seeking to seize the moment when flight is suspended or the second a Fish Eagle’s gaze locks onto its prey.
Through my lens, I wanted to pay tribute to this spectacular wildlife—a vital link between the Kenyan earth and sky. Whether it is the courtship dance of Grey Crowned Cranes or the organized chaos of scavengers, this collection invites you to look up and discover the finesse and strength of these feathered people, the guardians of Africa’s most legendary ecosystems."
